The Road Speed sensor is required for all 14CUX and GEMS installation, and is required for proper operation of the idle control software. This is also known as a Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). Failure to provide the signal will cause the vehicle to stall every time you pull up, especially with a manual transmission.

If your vehicle has no speedo at all (some competition vehicles), then it is possible to use a simple proximity sensor to pick up the driveshaft bolts as they go by. This sensor and diagram will help you achieve this.
