Our rear Discovery 2 oxygen sensor (Part # MHK100930) has been designed for use in Land Rover Discovery Series II 1999 – 2004, Range Rover 4.0 and 4.6 1999 - 2002, and Freelander 2002 - 2005 model vehicles. New oxygen sensors can maximize fuel economy, reduce emissions and boost engine performance. With gas prices skyrocketing, you can’t afford to drive around with old O2 sensors!
Discovery 2 models require four (4) oxygen sensors. Two of these sensors are mounted behind the Land Rover’s catalytic converter and two in front of it. The rear O2 sensor or post-cat sensors monitor the oxygen content of the exhaust gases leaving your Land Rover’s catalytic converter and confirms the proper operation of the cat. As an oxygen sensor ages, it becomes contaminated, and loses its ability to measure oxygen levels in exhaust gases. This typically results in a drop in fuel economy and a “check engine” light warning on your Rover’s dash.
