We custom make our short shifter setups to get rid of those horribly high stockers. We take off about 1 1/4 inches. This brings it down to exactly where the shift boot sits. 

 

Add a new Delrin shift boot insert while your at it!

    I had my shifter shortened 2 inches and it is one of the best things I have done to my TR8. It shifts so much smoother than the std. shifter. If you haven't done this ...DO IT

    Easy Swap, Great Results

    The shifter in my TR8 was stock. Because of the original long length it felt sloppy. I sent a core to the Wedge Shop and was rewarded with a new short shifter. The instructions were easy to follow. After covering my seats with clean shop towels (there is grease on the shifter), I swapped the shift levers in about 30 minutes. The results are crisp shifts. More than worth the small cost in time and money.

    My TR7 V8 project moved the tranni backward a good inch. Taking off 1 1/2 inches from the top of my shifter allowed fitting the original leather boot AND gave an amazingly nice shift pattern. I would recommend this shortening to anyone wanting that tighter feel in their TR7 or TR8. Thanks for offering this service and accommodating my special request.
